As far as basic economy cars you can get at American rental cars go, the Accent is probably one of my favorites. LEAGUES better than a Versa, Corolla, or Fiesta. The Accent is reasonably fast (coming from a miata owner so grain of salt required ) and actually goes around turns without feeling way larger than it is. If there were an Accent “ST” or “Si” equivalent, that would be really neat to drive probably.

My 01 Accent Hatch with a 2.0 Tibby swap and K-sport coilovers was a complete riot.
10/10 would own another.

That’s, as MCM would say, sex-spec.

That sounds great.

Eh, Accents aren’t that bad. Ditto their twin the Rio. I’d rather have an Accent/Rio than a Spark or Sonic, for instance, and that’s just sampling from South Korea.

It would dangle the inside wheel in tight corners when pushed. It was really a great car to push on and off the track. Couldn’t complain about averaging 37 mpg either considering it spent a lot of time above 4k.
The Tibby swap made it quite quick. If I could find another one in good shape + a V6 Tibby, I might venture into building another.

add either of these front and rear to complete the boy racer look

Hopefully the V6 would not make it too front heavy. I have a 05 Elantra and I would love to put a 2.0 in the rear of an Accent hatch. If so many have rust issues cutting the rust our and making a mid-engined light weight riot seem like the right fix.

The 2.7L is an aluminum block V6, so it shouldn’t weigh much more.
That and it’s a relative of the Mitsu 6Gxx engines, so it likely takes well to simple mods as the 6Gs do.
